Minerals as a supplement.
Because our foods lack many required minerals for good health (Senate Document No.264), we must supplement them into our diet. But beware! Our bodies absorb some forms of minerals significantly less than others.
Living 120 to 140 years.
Here’s what Dr. Joel Wallach says of 5 cultures in the world that regularly live to be 120 to 140 years old:
“They all live in mountain valleys 8,500 to 14,000 feet in elevation and they all get their water from glacial milk (the water that comes from underneath glaciers as they grind up the parent rock of the mountain). This highly mineralized water is white and opaque – it looks like milk.
So they drink it. They absorb three to five percent of those metallic minerals. More importantly, for 2,500 to 5,000 years, they’ve irrigated their crops with it. Crop after crop, year after year, generation after generation. So their crops have converted the metallic minerals in the glacial milk into organically bound plant colloidal minerals, the most absorbable form of minerals. Plants are the only living organism that are able to make this conversion.
Comparing plant derived colloidal minerals to rock, clay, coral, and shell based minerals – the health food store standard – is like comparing filet mignon to gristle. Colloids are liquid, they are 7,000 times smaller than a red blood cell (their small size makes it necessary to use an electron microscope to see them). They are all negatively charged, a unique feature of colloidal minerals. Their tiny size and negative charge give special properties of absorption into your body, as opposed to rock, coral and shell based minerals.”
All metallic minerals come from rock, oyster shell, calcium carbonate, limestone, clay, and sea salts. And because we can’t live without them (they’re essential to everything that happens in our bodies!), that makes them good. But as adults, we only absorb 3-12% of them in this metallic, or elemental form. (Note: it is believed that too much of these elements can have toxic effects on the body.) In the late 70’s, the health food industry discovered that by wrapping amino acids or proteins around the minerals (called “chelated” minerals), our absorption increased to slightly over 50%, at best. That makes them a better mineral.
There is another form of minerals that doesn’t come from rocks and soil; they are neither metallic nor salts. They are plant derived colloidal minerals. The kind our bodies are designed to thrive on. Through a process called photosynthesis, plants convert precious earth-bound minerals into organic colloidals that are easily absorbed by the human body. And they’re up to 98% absorbable! Mined from a 70 million year old source in the Utah mountains, it is the only known certified organic humic shale deposit in the world. And is the only mineral source used to produce Youngevity®’s full line of nutritional supplements. This makes them the “best”! Discover why, and how effective plant derived colloidal minerals can be.
